Mangaluru: A resident of Mangalore city has fallen victim to an online investment fraud, losing a substantial sum of ₹1.50 crore. The complainant, who was lured by a post on Facebook promising lucrative returns through a “wealth multiplication plan,” invested in a fraudulent scheme.

The scam unfolded when the complainant responded to a post on Facebook and was added to a WhatsApp group, where members shared fake screenshots of profits from stock market investments. The group’s admin, Julia Ston, convinced the complainant to invest, and he transferred funds to various bank accounts between May 28 and June 28.

When the complainant tried to withdraw his investment, he realized he had been cheated. The admin ignored his attempts to contact them, and the complainant filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) on July 5. The Mangalore City Cyber Station police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
