Mangaluru: Two people were injured, including a student and a woman passenger, when a private bus collided with a college bus near Todarmaite College while attempting to overtake it on Sunday. The accident occurred on the Mangaluru-Moodabidri route, leading to significant unrest among the college students on board.

The incident reportedly took place when a private bus, known locally as a “master bus” with a history of reckless driving complaints, tried to overtake the college bus, resulting in a collision. The woman passenger and a student sustained serious injuries and were immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Following the accident, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and other students gathered at the scene, expressing outrage over the driver’s negligence. In their protest, students shattered the windows of the bus and demanded accountability from the bus driver and company.

Local authorities are investigating the incident, and additional safety measures are being considered to ensure student safety on frequently traveled routes like Mangaluru to Moodabidri.
