Mangaluru: The city-based Anirvedha Foundation – A Resource Centre for Psychological Well-being, has introduced a new free and inclusive program called ‘Support Saturday’ to uplift children with special needs. The initiative was officially launched by Iftikar Ali, chairman of the Allied and Healthcare Council of Karnataka, during the special ‘Dawat-e-Iftar’ gathering for differently-abled children held on Tuesday evening.

The event, marked by a spirit of inclusiveness and community bonding, saw the participation of nearly 100 special children, their parents, and well-wishers. Dr KT Shwetha, director of Anirvedha Foundation, announced that ‘Support Saturday’ will begin on March 29, 2025, and will be conducted every Saturday from 3 PM to 4:30 PM at the foundation’s centre in Morgansgate.

The initiative is tailored to offer a caring and supportive space for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties, intellectual challenges, and other developmental conditions. It aims to boost communication, social interaction, and essential life skills through a variety of engaging activities.

Children will benefit from structured play, art and music therapy, physical activities, and emotional regulation strategies. The sessions will be conducted by a qualified team of professionals, including psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, special educators, physiotherapists, and trained mental health volunteers.

Additionally, the program invites parents, guardians, and community members to actively participate. Parent workshops and peer support sessions will also be part of the initiative, creating a supportive network. Volunteers are encouraged to join the cause and contribute to empowering these children.
