Mangaluru: On Thursday, July 18, road connectivity between Mangaluru and Bengaluru was nearly severed following the closure of National Highway 75 due to landslips in Sakleshpur taluk and NH 275 at night. Authorities issued an order prohibiting all vehicle movement on NH 275 due to the potential threat of a landslip near Karthoji between Sampaje and Madikeri.
Several KSRTC and private buses were caught in a traffic jam in the ghat section, resulting in significant delays. In response, Dakshina Kannada police erected barricades at Mani to redirect traffic onto the Mysuru road.
Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja issued an order banning night traffic on NH-275 from 8 PM to 6 AM from July 18 to 22 due to the landslide risk near Karthoji between Madikeri and Sampaje.
Emergency vehicles and those involved in disaster management are exempt from the night ban. The Deputy Commissioner has advised vehicles traveling towards Bengaluru and Mysuru to take the Charmadi Ghat route instead.
