Mangaluru is abuzz with excitement over the launch of its first-ever direct flight to Singapore, marking the city’s expansion beyond the GCC nations. The inaugural flight, set to take off on January 21, has sparked enthusiasm on social media, with residents eager to be part of this historic journey. One popular post reads, “The first flight to Singapore starts on Jan 21. Let’s make history,” encouraging locals to book their tickets and be part of the milestone.
Bookings for the maiden flight have already begun, and the response has been positive. Social media campaigns like “First Day, First Flight – Kudla Challenge!” are urging Mangalureans to take the inaugural flight and create lasting memories. Additionally, promotional videos about the new route have been circulating, highlighting the advantages of the service.
Rajesh Acharya, director of HQ Connections Pte Ltd and coordinator of the Singapore Tuluver community, has been advocating for this flight since 2017. He shared on LinkedIn that the new connection serves a dual purpose: providing ease of travel for Singapore residents from the region and opening up opportunities for businesses and tourists between the West Coast of India and Southeast Asia.
The direct flight will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays, with affordable introductory pricing and convenient timings for hotel check-ins and check-outs. The flight is expected to enhance business and tourism for Mangalureans, who can now easily access Singapore for leisure and professional purposes. Travelers can also explore various tourist destinations in Mangaluru, with detailed guides being prepared for visitors from Singapore.
For those planning to travel, Singapore’s visa applications can be submitted online through the e-Service platform, with a processing time of 3-5 business days. The visa fee is approximately 30 Singapore dollars (SGD).
