In response to the recent stabbing of two BJP workers, Mangaluru City police have implemented precautionary measures to maintain law and order, announced city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal. The commissioner chaired a peace meeting at Konaje police station on Tuesday and confirmed that similar meetings would take place at all stations within the commissionerate limits over the next two to three days.
Commissioner Agrawal urged the public to avoid violence and refrain from spreading rumors on social media. He emphasized that peace meetings are crucial for restoring normalcy. Addressing the performance of the anti-communal wing, the commissioner highlighted its success during the Lok Sabha elections, with nearly 1,300 individuals placed in preventive custody, 75 externed, and eight booked under the Goonda Act.
The police have also intensified security in the city, conducting vehicle checks at 25 locations from 9 pm on Monday to 3 am on Tuesday to prevent potential offenses.
