Mangaluru: A 27-year-old man from Shishila village died while undergoing treatment after the car in which he was travelling to Mantralaya collided with another car near Banakal in Chikkamagaluru district.
The deceased has been identified as Deepesh, a resident of Mantaje in Shishila village. He had sustained serious injuries in the accident on September 29 and was undergoing treatment at Father Muller Medical College Hospital in Mangaluru.
According to the information provided by the injured passengers, the accident occurred when a car travelling from the opposite direction collided with their vehicle near Sabbenahalli on National Highway 73 at around 3.40 am. The exact circumstances of the collision are subject to police investigation.
Six people were travelling to Mantralaya
Deepesh was travelling to Mantralaya along with five others from Shishila on September 29.

The group comprised Raghu, 32, former Shishila Gram Panchayat president Sudhin, Satish, Deepesh, Deepak alias Tirumaleshwara and Shobith alias Nagaraj.
They were travelling in a car when the accident occurred in the early hours of the morning near Sabbenahalli village.
The vehicle coming from the opposite direction, reportedly from the Mudigere side, collided with their car on NH 73 near Banakal.
The impact left several occupants of the car injured.
Deepesh suffered serious injuries
Deepesh, who was seated in the rear of the vehicle, suffered an injury to his neck in the collision.
Sudhin sustained an injury to his left shoulder, while Raghu, Satish, Nagaraj and Deepak suffered minor injuries.
Deepesh and Sudhin were initially taken to SDM Hospital in Ujire for further treatment.
As Deepesh’s injuries required specialised medical attention, he was subsequently shifted to Father Muller Medical College Hospital in Mangaluru on the advice of doctors.
Despite treatment, Deepesh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
His death has left his family and the Shishila community mourning the loss of the young man.
Injured passengers raise allegation about driver
