Dakshina Kannada: The Dakshina Kannada district sessions court granted bail on Saturday to Shyamala Bhat and her elder daughter Kanmani, the mother and sister of Karthik Bhat, who were arrested in connection with the tragic suicide-murder case in Pakshikere, Mulki.
The case details
Karthik Bhat (32) had killed his wife Priyanka (28) and their four-year-old son Hriday before ending his own life by hanging from a train. The shocking incident came to light on November 9, with Karthik leaving behind a suicide note accusing his mother and sister of harassment, which he claimed led to his drastic actions.
Arrest and legal proceedings
Following a complaint filed by Priyanka’s mother, the Mulki police arrested Shyamala Bhat and Kanmani, presenting them before the court in Moodbidri, which remanded them to judicial custody. The district sessions court later granted them bail on Saturday, providing a respite for the accused family members.
