Mangaluru: A 35-year-old passenger who fell from a moving train on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru route was found injured nearly 10 hours later near Savanoor in Puttur.

Uday Kumar, a Kumta native working at a car wash outlet, was standing near the door of a general compartment on a Bengaluru-bound train on Monday when he accidentally fell, officials said. A fellow passenger discovered his mobile phone and immediately alerted the station master at Subrahmanya railway station.

Following the report, the Railway Protection Force and local authorities launched a search operation and located Uday near Savanoor with a fractured leg and head injuries. He was initially taken to a hospital in Puttur before being shifted to district Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment.
