City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has urged residents to prioritize the installation of CCTV cameras around their homes, citing their crucial role in solving the recent Kotekani robbery case. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Commissioner Agarwal provided details about the incident, highlighting how CCTV footage played a pivotal role in identifying the suspects.
He emphasized the intensification of the beat system and encouraged individuals living alone or planning to travel outstation to inform their local police stations. This proactive approach, he explained, would enable police to monitor vulnerable areas effectively and provide necessary patrolling.
Regarding the robbery at Victor Mendonca’s residence, Commissioner Agarwal disclosed that the perpetrators had forcibly entered by breaking window grills and used an iron rod found outside the house to attack the occupants. The rod was later recovered from a bushy area near the highway at Mulki.
In another development, Commissioner Agarwal announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for the police team led by SI Bharathi, which successfully cracked the Ulaibettu dacoity case. He commended their efforts in apprehending the culprits responsible for the crime.
The Commissioner’s statements underscored the importance of community cooperation and technological aid in maintaining law and order, urging residents to contribute to enhancing public safety through proactive measures like CCTV installation.
