Mangaluru, May 28: With schools and colleges set to reopen in the first week of June 2024, Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal held a crucial meeting with school and college managements, as well as school vehicle drivers, at the Police Commissioner’s office auditorium.
During the meeting, the Karnataka Motor Vehicles (Conditions for Vehicles Engaged in Transport of School Children) Rules 2012 were thoroughly communicated to the heads of schools and colleges. They were instructed to observe these regulations without fail and to submit a compliance report.
The safety of children traveling by school vehicles was a key topic of discussion. Drivers were instructed to avoid stopping vehicles in the middle of the road, not to create obstacles to the smooth flow of traffic, ensure children are not picked up or dropped off in the middle of the road, avoid carrying children beyond capacity, refrain from using harsh horns, and strictly adhere to all traffic regulations.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime and Traffic), assistant police commissioners, police inspectors of the traffic subdivision, and traffic station police inspectors were also present at the meeting.
