Mangaluru: A 33-year-old First Division Assistant working at the District Treasury Office in Mangaluru has been missing for more than a month, prompting the Kankanady Town Police to register a case and begin an investigation into his whereabouts.

The missing employee has been identified as Rohan M, son of Muniraj Reddy, a native of Bengaluru. He has been working at the District Treasury Office in Dakshina Kannada for around two years and was residing in the Padil-Alape area.

Last contact reported on August 1

According to the complaint filed by his father, Muniraj Reddy, he last spoke to Rohan on August 1, 2026.

During the conversation, Rohan reportedly told his father that he was in Delhi and was travelling by train towards Gujarat to attend Guru Purnima.

After the conversation, the family was unable to establish contact with him. His mobile phone was reportedly switched off and remained unreachable, increasing concerns about his safety and whereabouts.

The family subsequently began making efforts to trace him through people known to him.

Friends and acquaintances contacted

Rohan’s family reportedly contacted his friends and acquaintances in an attempt to find out where he had gone or whether anyone had been in contact with him after August 1.

However, their inquiries did not provide any information regarding his whereabouts.

With the attempts to contact him continuing to fail and no confirmed information emerging, his father eventually approached the police and sought assistance in locating his son.

The complaint led the Kankanady Town Police to formally register a missing-person case.

Police register case

Based on the complaint, the Kankanady Town Police registered a case on August 5, 2026, under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The First Information Report records the period of occurrence as beginning on August 1. The FIR was submitted to the court on August 5, and the matter is currently under investigation.

Police records identify Rohan as a 33-year-old man and list him as the missing person in the case.

Investigators have initiated efforts to establish his movements after his last known communication with his father and determine where he may have travelled.

Employee had been living in Padil-Alape

Rohan had reportedly been residing in the Padil-Alape area while working at the District Treasury Office.

His employment at the office and his local residence are among the details recorded in the police complaint and FIR.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear. At present, there is no confirmed information about his location after the reported conversation with his father on August 1.

The police investigation is expected to examine available information concerning his travel plans, communications and contacts to establish his movements.

Family seeks information

The continued absence of information has caused concern among Rohan’s family and acquaintances.

His father approached the police after attempts to locate him through personal contacts failed. The family is now relying on the police investigation and information from members of the public to help establish his whereabouts.
