Mangaluru: The city witnessed a vibrant month filled with cultural, sporting, and culinary celebrations that energized the community and attracted large crowds. From the Karavali Utsava to the State Games 2025, the events highlighted the city’s rich heritage and diversity.

Karavali Utsava 2024

The month-long Karavali Utsava showcased a variety of attractions, including a film festival, robotic butterfly exhibition, dog show, car and bike displays, and beach festivities.

  • Underwater Tunnel & Forest-Themed Park: Visitors were mesmerized by the unique installations at the Utsava grounds.
  • Robotic Butterfly Exhibit: From Dec 22 to Jan 19 at Kadri Park, children and adults enjoyed robotic models of butterflies, ants, and dragonflies.
  • State-Level Dog Show: On Jan 5, over 150 participants displayed popular and rare breeds.

Kala Parba & Kambala

  • Kala Parba (Jan 11-12): This art festival at Kadri Park brought together visual artists, musicians, and performers in a celebration of creativity.
  • Mangaluru & Naringala Kambala: The traditional buffalo races drew enthusiastic crowds, with CM Siddaramaiah gracing the Naringala event on Jan 13.

Street Food Fiesta & Beach Festivities

  • Food Festival: Held from Jan 18-22, the fiesta featured 150 stalls offering cuisines from across India, inaugurated by Dolly Chaiwala.
  • Kite Festival: International and Indian flyers showcased stunning kite designs on Jan 18-19 at Tannirbhavi Beach.
  • Beach Festival: Featuring live concerts, sand art, and cultural performances, it concluded with a Raghu Dixit show.

State Games 2025

Launched on Jan 17, over 4,500 athletes are competing in 25 events across Mangaluru and Udupi. A grand opening procession, fireworks, and light shows marked the start of this week-long event.
