The development of a new plastic park in Ganjimutt, Mangaluru, Karnataka, is 55% complete, despite delays caused by land-related litigation, as reported to Parliament on Friday. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Anupriya Patel, provided updates on the project, which was approved in January 2022 with a total cost of ₹62.78 crore.
The central government has contributed ₹31.38 crore towards the project, which is expected to be completed within five years of its final approval. According to the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), the delays pertain to litigation over a 9.33-acre portion of the land designated for the park.
Despite these challenges, the project remains within its approved timeline, and there has been no cost escalation, according to the minister.
