Mangaluru – A significant fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday near the iconic Clock Tower in Mangaluru, reducing two shops and a goods vehicle to ashes.

The blaze, believed to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, erupted around dawn. A garment outlet and a scrap store were completely gutted in the fire, while a goods vehicle parked nearby was also engulfed.

Firefighters from Pandeshwar and Kadri stations responded swiftly and launched a strenuous operation to douse the flames. Their timely action prevented the fire from spreading further into the congested commercial area.

Despite efforts, property worth several lakhs was destroyed in the incident. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause and assessing the total damage.
