Hundreds of residents gathered at the B C Road Administrative Building in Bantwal on Monday to collect their ration cards, resulting in long queues and crowded premises.
The distribution followed a government initiative allowing corrections, name additions, cancellations, and address changes via private Grama One centers. Processed documents were distributed through the Revenue Department’s food division.
Over 300 tokens were issued for collection, with more than 150 ration cards distributed by afternoon. Despite the overwhelming turnout, Food Division Officer Ravi assured that the process would be completed by 4 pm.
Former Zilla Panchayat member M Tungappa Bangera has urged the government to extend the deadline for corrections and updates by an additional month.
