National flag hoisted amid patriotic spirit
The Independence Day programme began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by chief guest B K Imthiyaz. As the tricolour unfurled, members of the gathering stood in respect and joined in the singing of the national anthem.
The ceremony provided an opportunity for those present to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who played a crucial role in India’s struggle for independence. The occasion also highlighted the values of unity, democracy, peace and collective responsibility that continue to shape the country’s journey.
The celebrations reflected the significance of Independence Day beyond the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag, with speakers emphasising the need to translate the ideals of freedom into meaningful opportunities and social progress.
Imthiyaz stresses economic empowerment
Addressing the gathering, B K Imthiyaz extended his Independence Day greetings and said the true meaning of freedom could be realised only when citizens had access to opportunities in education, employment and economic empowerment.
He emphasised the need for India to pursue greater economic liberation and ensure that the benefits of development reached all sections of society. He also spoke about India’s role in the global community and said the country should continue to promote peace, harmony and cooperation, particularly amid prevailing international challenges.
Imthiyaz placed particular emphasis on the role of young people in shaping India’s future. He noted that the youth constitute nearly 60 per cent of the country’s population and said they should be empowered through education, employment opportunities and meaningful avenues to participate in nation-building.
According to him, providing young people with opportunities to realise their potential is essential to ensuring that the ideals of independence have practical relevance in contemporary India.
Praise for MCC Bank’s community initiatives
Imthiyaz also appreciated MCC Bank for its initiatives aimed at supporting the community and empowering individuals. He highlighted the institution’s contribution towards education, employment and the basic needs of society.
He said initiatives that help people pursue education, secure employment and improve their economic circumstances give practical meaning to the values associated with freedom. Such efforts, he observed, can help individuals and families work towards more secure and dignified lives.
The remarks underlined the broader role that financial institutions can play in supporting aspirations and contributing to community development.
