Mangaluru: Mullai Mugilan, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, lauded the media’s ongoing commitment to highlighting and addressing the problems faced by rural communities. He made these remarks during a function held at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in the city, where he distributed uniforms to students of the Government Higher Primary School in Kutlur, funded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of MCF, in collaboration with the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association.

During his address, Mugilan emphasized the essential role of the media as the “fourth estate” in democracy, noting its significant contributions to raising awareness about rural issues. The event celebrated the distribution of uniforms to approximately 350 children from Kutlur and surrounding rural areas, showcasing the impact of corporate initiatives on local education. The gathering also included the recognition of a Kutlur village representative who was awarded for their contribution in the documentary “Sahasra Pravasa,” which highlights the village’s cultural and social heritage.
