Mangaluru – Air travel between Mangaluru and the Middle East has been thrown into disarray following Iran’s missile strike on a US military base in Qatar, leading to widespread airspace closures across the Gulf region.
As a direct consequence, six international flights at Mangaluru International Airport have been cancelled, while two others were diverted mid-route. The affected inbound flights include:
-
IndiGo flight 6E1437 from Abu Dhabi
IndiGo flight 6E1468 from Dubai
Air India Express flight IX832 from Dubai
Air India Express flight IX886 from Dammam
On the outbound side, the cancellations involved:
-
Air India Express Mangaluru–Dammam
Air India Express flight IX831 Mangaluru–Dubai
In a separate development, a domestic IndiGo flight (6E6523) bound for Mumbai was also cancelled due to operational issues.
Amidst the chaos, two international flights that had already departed Mangaluru had to be diverted — one Air India Express flight headed for Dammam was rerouted to Muscat, and an IndiGo flight en route to Abu Dhabi was redirected to Mumbai. Both planes safely returned to Mangaluru on June 24.
Authorities at Mangaluru International Airport have issued a travel advisory, urging passengers flying to or from Middle Eastern destinations to confirm their flight status with their respective airlines, as further changes are likely depending on how the geopolitical situation unfolds.
