Kadaba: Kadaba police have registered a case after a minor boy belonging to a Scheduled Tribe and two of his classmates were allegedly abused, assaulted and threatened with death at Kundadka Falls on August 3.
The complaint was lodged on August 11, following which police registered a case against four named accused in connection with the alleged incident.
Students had gone to Kundadka Falls
According to the complaint, the minor boy, who is the complainant in the case, had gone to Kundadka Falls on the morning of August 3 along with four of his classmates.
The students had reportedly visited the falls to spend time and play at the spot.
While the group was at the location, four persons identified as Rohith, Deviprasad, Chandan and Umesh allegedly arrived there along with the father of a girl student who was part of the group.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation are being examined by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
Minor allegedly abused and assaulted
The accused allegedly confronted the minor boy and abused him using obscene language, according to the complaint.
The complaint further alleges that the minor boy was assaulted and that two of his male classmates were also attacked during the incident.
The accused also allegedly threatened the lives of the three boys.
Following the alleged incident, the matter was brought to the attention of the police, and a complaint was subsequently filed at Kadaba police station on August 11.
Since the complainant is a minor and the allegations involve offences against members of a Scheduled Tribe, police have included provisions under both the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
SC/ST Act provisions invoked
Kadaba police registered Crime No. 97/2026 in connection with the complaint.
The case has been registered under Sections 189(2), 190, 351(3), 352 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police have also invoked Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015.
The inclusion of these provisions reflects the allegations made in the complaint regarding the alleged abuse and assault of the minor belonging to a Scheduled Tribe.
The exact applicability of the provisions and the role of each accused will be established during the course of the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
Police begin investigation
Kadaba police have taken up the investigation into the allegations.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, record statements of the complainant and other students, and gather other available evidence relating to the alleged incident.
The statements of the other students who were present at Kundadka Falls could also help investigators establish what happened at the location.
Police will also determine the circumstances in which the accused allegedly arrived at the falls and confronted the students.
At this stage, the allegations remain part of the complaint and investigation, and the accused are yet to be proved guilty by a court of law.
Case under investigation
The alleged incident has raised concerns because the complainant and the other students were minors.
The police investigation will determine whether the alleged assault, threats and abuse took place as described in the complaint and establish the individual roles of those named in the case.
Further action will follow based on the evidence collected during the investigation.
