On Wednesday, fire and emergency service personnel swiftly extinguished a minor fire on the ground floor of the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) building. CR Ranganath, the regional fire officer of the Mangaluru range, reported that the fire originated from the cable wires connected to the building’s meter board due to a short circuit.

The incident was promptly noticed when smoke began emanating from the affected area. Acting quickly, the MUDA staff evacuated the building to ensure everyone’s safety. Fire service personnel arrived on the scene and used extinguishers to successfully douse the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further.

Ranganath praised the quick response of the fire service team, which helped in averting a potentially larger disaster. The MUDA staff’s immediate evacuation also played a crucial role in ensuring there were no injuries or significant damage.

This incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance and safety checks of electrical systems in buildings to prevent such occurrences. The prompt action of both the MUDA staff and the fire service personnel underscores the effectiveness of emergency response protocols in Mangaluru.
