After 16 days of uncertainty, Diganth, son of Padmanabha from Kidebettu near Farangipete, has reunited with his mother, bringing relief to his family and the community.

Vanishing without a trace

On February 25, after collecting his PUC exam admission card, Diganth reportedly visited a temple before disappearing near the Farangipete railway tracks. His slippers and mobile phone were later found at the site, with bloodstains adding to the mystery.

Statewide attention and intense search

His disappearance sparked confusion and protests, pushing the Dakshina Kannada police into action. With no immediate leads, SP Yathish N spearheaded a rigorous search. The case even reached the legislative assembly, and his father filed a habeas corpus petition in the High Court, intensifying pressure on authorities.

A surprise discovery in Udupi

Despite a combing operation across multiple districts, Diganth was unexpectedly found at a D-Mart in Udupi on the 12th day, raising new questions. The police submitted a report to the High Court, and as he was a minor, he was presented before the Child Welfare Committee.

A homecoming with lingering questions

Initially hesitant to return home, Diganth was eventually reunited with his family. Though the ordeal has ended, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and reappearance remain unclear.
