Mangaluru, Oct 16: In a bid to enhance regional connectivity and infrastructure, Mangaluru MLA has urged the Indian Railways to relocate the existing Kaniyoor Halt Railway Station to Yeladka. The proposal aims to establish a new terminal station, facilitating better passenger services and smoother train operations.
The current Kaniyoor station, situated in a densely forested area, faces challenges such as limited accessibility and inadequate facilities. Relocating to Yeladka, a more accessible and strategically located site, is expected to alleviate these issues and cater to the growing transportation needs of the region.
The MLA emphasized that the proposed relocation aligns with the government’s vision of improving infrastructure and promoting regional development. By transforming Yeladka into a full-fledged terminal station, the initiative is anticipated to boost economic activities, enhance tourism, and provide better connectivity to surrounding areas.
The proposal has garnered support from local communities and stakeholders, who believe that the development will significantly improve transportation infrastructure and contribute to the region’s growth. Discussions with railway authorities are underway to assess the feasibility and plan the next steps for the proposed relocation.
