Beltangady: A motorcyclist was injured in a chain collision involving two cars and a motorcycle near Guruvayanakere on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred near Maddadka on the Mangaluru–Chikkamagaluru National Highway after a car reportedly went out of the driver’s control and crashed into an oncoming car and a motorcycle.

According to preliminary information, the car was travelling from Mangaluru when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The car then veered into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car before striking a motorcycle.

The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist onto the road, causing injuries. Local residents and passers-by rushed to the spot and shifted the injured rider to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is yet to be officially confirmed.

Car overturns after impact

The force of the collision was so severe that one of the cars overturned on the highway. The other car sustained extensive damage to its front portion, indicating the intensity of the crash.

Photographs from the scene showed the overturned vehicle lying on its side while the second car suffered major structural damage. The motorcycle was also damaged in the accident.

Occupants escape with minor injuries

Despite the severity of the collision, occupants of both cars reportedly escaped with minor injuries. They were provided medical attention at the scene and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

The accident led to temporary disruption of traffic movement on the busy Mangaluru–Chikkamagaluru National Highway as vehicles slowed down near the accident site. Traffic was later restored after the damaged vehicles were moved from the roadway.

Investigation underway

Police visited the scene and gathered information regarding the circumstances that led to the accident. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while driving on highways and to adhere to speed limits to prevent such accidents.
