Dakshina Kannada MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta recently discussed National Highway issues and preliminary road plans for Nantoor and KPT. Officials outlined that NH 73 will extend towards Kulshekar, with free movement on the left-hand side, while right-hand side travelers will need to cross the road. Most traffic will use the service road, and sections of the road will be designated as footpaths, starting with the central portion.

In the second phase, a service road will be constructed from one side, extending from Udupi to Mangaluru. Due to limited land, the remaining section will be completed later. Once finished, traffic management will improve, and the service road reconstruction will take two years to complete.

Land is required from ITBT Hostel (BCM Paduva) and Srinivas Mallya Memorial Park for road expansion, necessitating the relocation of the Miyawaki Forest at Paduva.

Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to address ongoing traffic issues, estimating Rs 1,000 crore for the Kuntikana to Pumpwell flyover, which must remain under 16 km. He stressed the importance of land acquisition and collaboration between Mescom officials and NHAI to resolve technical issues. Rapid planning is also needed for the B C Road to Surathkal stretch.

Capt. Brijesh Chowta inquired about estimated funds, with NHAI officials indicating that this is an independent project, with maintenance costs to be communicated within 15 days. The KPT Paduva road will be upgraded to a Mumbai-Bengaluru standard with underpasses and circles.

District Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, MP Brijesh Chowta, Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur, and other MCC corporators attended the event.
