The Management of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) expresses its profound grief over the loss of Shri Manish Karkada in the unfortunate incident that occurred on 30 September 2026 in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit (CHTU) of MRPL. MRPL extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to his near and dear ones. The Company stands in solidarity with the family during this difficult time.

While no financial assistance can compensate for the loss of a precious life, MRPL has decided to extend financial support of 790 lakh to the family of the deceased. In addition, the family will be eligible for benefits of approximately 10 lakh under the Group Term Life Insurance (GTLI) and 20 lakh under the Workmen Compensation Policy (WCP), taking the overall financial support and insurance benefits to approximately €1.20 crore.

Regarding Mediclaim insurance for the secondary workforce, the proposal for the same is being drafted and under discussion.

The same will be finalized after discussing the matter with the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, and the respected DC Dakshina Kannada. MRPL expects the process relating to the proposed Mediclaim arrangement to be completed within approximately four weeks.

MRPL reiterates its commitment to the safety, health and welfare of all personnel associated with its operations and will continue to extend all possible support to the affected family.
