Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), in association with the Karnataka Forest Department (KFD), organised a tree plantation drive at its premises on June 3, 2026, as part of the World Environment Day 2026 celebrations and the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and public awareness on the importance of tree plantation and ecological sustainability.

The programme witnessed active participation from MRPL employees, Karnataka Forest Department officials, and members of the secondary workforce.

The event was graced by Shri Shashikanth S. Vibhothi (IFS), Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mangaluru Subdivision; Shri Rajesh Baligar, Range Forest Officer, Mangaluru Range; Shri Shravan Kumar Nalwad, Deputy Range Forest Officer, Surathkal Section; and Shri Gangadhar Nanvi, Beat Forest Officer, Surathkal Beat.
The forest officials appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in preserving green cover and combating environmental challenges.
They also emphasised the role of afforestation and community participation in ensuring ecological balance and sustainable development.

The programme was attended by Shri Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath, Managing Director of MRPL; Shri Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, Director (Refinery); Shri Devendra Kumar, Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer; Shri N. Anandha Kumar, Executive Director (Refinery); Shri Deepak Prabhakar P., Executive Director (Marketing and Business Development); and Shri Pattathil Sujith, Executive Director (Projects).

Several Group General Managers, Chief General Managers, General Managers, and senior officials of MRPL also participated in the plantation drive.
Their involvement underscored the company’s commitment towards environmental stewardship and sustainable industrial practices.
