Mangaluru: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM), in collaboration with Prithvi Mitra, organized a waste management awareness campaign at City Centre Mall, Mangaluru, on March 15, 2025. The event, featuring a street play, an interactive session, and a flash mob, aimed to educate the public on the Three Rs – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Street Play and Public Engagement

MSNIM students performed a street play illustrating practical ways to reduce waste and implement sustainable waste management in daily life. This was followed by an interactive session, where audience members discussed effective household waste disposal.

Abhishek Bhandary and Abijith Hegde, representatives of Prithvi Mitra, shared valuable insights on environmental sustainability, stressing the negative impact of improper waste disposal on marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

Prithvi Mitra’s Waste Management Initiatives

Prithvi Mitra, co-founded by Abhishek Bhandary and Vishwas U.S., is a social startup dedicated to advancing the circular economy by converting waste into valuable resources. Their initiatives include:

  • Setting up waste collection points in public spaces

  • Providing QR codes for easy access to waste management information

  • Preventing environmental degradation through awareness campaigns

  • Exciting Announcements: Edify 2025

    Adding an energetic touch, MSNIM students performed a flash mob to captivate the audience. The event concluded with a banner drop, announcing Edify 2025, MSNIM’s flagship intercollegiate management and cultural fest. The two-day event, celebrating 25 years of MSNIM, is expected to attract over 1,000 students from undergraduate and postgraduate institutions.

    The campaign was attended by Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director of MSNIM, along with faculty members. Assistant Professor Sathvika Shetty coordinated the event.
