Mangaluru: The Yenepoya Research Centre for Finance and Entrepreneurship Development (YEN-REFINED) and Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management (YIASCM) successfully hosted a three-day national workshop titled Multivariate Analysis Using SmartPLS and Strategies for Publishing – Hands-on Practice’ from January 21 to 23.

The workshop provided participants with practical training on advanced data analysis using SmartPLS software, focusing on techniques like exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, path modeling, and mediation/moderation analysis. It also covered effective strategies for academic publishing, including manuscript preparation and journal selection.

Inaugural Session Highlights

The event began on January 21 with a prayer led by Saleeth Mohammed (BA student, YIASCM) and a lamp-lighting ceremony. Dignitaries included chief guest V.S. Balasubramanian, joint director of BIRD, Mangaluru, and guest of honor Dr. Sreejesh S, associate professor at IIM Kozhikode. The session was presided over by Prof Arun A Bhagwath, principal and dean of the faculty of science at YIASCM.

Dr. Niyaz Panakaje, workshop coordinator, highlighted the importance of SmartPLS for impactful research and urged participants to address industry-relevant issues through collaborative efforts. Prof Shareena P, vice principal and dean of commerce and management, emphasized the importance of a clear research problem and continuous skill enhancement through workshops.

Expert Insights and Goals

V.S. Balasubramanian underscored the role of evidence-based policymaking, encouraging researchers to contribute to societal development. Dr. Sreejesh S stressed the importance of targeting high-impact journals and maintaining ownership of research. Prof Arun A Bhagwath emphasized ethical and impactful research, advocating for systematic methods and critical thinking.

Engaging Sessions and Collaboration

The workshop attracted 38 participants from across the country. Led by Dr. Sreejesh S, the sessions featured rigorous academic discussions and practical applications of SmartPLS tools. The event fostered networking and collaboration, enriching the participants’ research capabilities.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Niyaz Panakaje, supported by Dr. Shakira Irfana, Rovina Soans, and a dedicated team of faculty and research fellows. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Rovina Soans, leaving participants empowered to contribute meaningfully to the academic community.
