The Bahamas-flagged luxury cruise vessel, operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, arrived carrying 427 passengers along with 372 crew members. Tourists arriving aboard the vessel received a traditional coastal welcome at the port, showcasing the region’s cultural hospitality and tourism potential.
The arrival marked the end of the current cruise season, which saw multiple international cruise ships docking at the port and bringing visitors from different parts of the world to explore coastal Karnataka.
Traditional welcome for international visitors
Passengers disembarking from the cruise ship were greeted with a cultural reception arranged by port authorities. The welcoming event reflected the local traditions and cultural identity of coastal Karnataka, creating a memorable experience for tourists arriving at the port.
Apart from the ceremonial reception, authorities also arranged various tourism-related activities for the visitors. Sightseeing tours were organised to introduce guests to important destinations and attractions. Guided meditation sessions and tourism support services were also provided to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Such initiatives are aimed at ensuring that tourists not only pass through the port but also engage with the culture, heritage and lifestyle of the region. Tourism officials believe that creating unique experiences for visitors can encourage positive international recognition and increase repeat tourism.
