The Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association has announced that there will be no bus strike in the district on March 22, despite the statewide Karnataka bandh called by pro-Kannada organizations. The protest was triggered by recent incidents involving Marathi-speaking individuals in Belagavi, including an attack on a KSRTC bus conductor by a group of Marathi youth.
Association President Azeez Parthippady stated that while they support the demands of Kannada organizations, they have chosen not to participate in the bandh. He emphasized that bus services will operate as usual, considering the needs of the public and students, especially since SSLC exams are in progress.
The decision ensures that daily commuters and students facing crucial exams will not be affected by transport disruptions.
