Recent reports have alerted police to the resurgence of the infamous ‘Chaddi Gang’ operating in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts. This gang, comprising members from Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, and Rajasthan, has a history of committing thefts in these regions, particularly targeting houses during the rainy season when residents are asleep.
The gang’s distinct attire—shorts, vests, and cloths tied around their heads—along with visible weapons, sets them apart. Recently, CCTV footage from a theft in Kodikal captured five individuals matching this description entering a house by cutting open window grills at 2:04 am. They left by 3:42 am, one carrying a bag. The incident occurred beside a road, with nearby houses, and was interrupted momentarily by passing vehicles.
Authorities suspect the same gang is behind multiple recent burglaries, including two in Balkunje Neeralike. They urge residents to secure their homes properly, store valuables in bank lockers, and report any suspicious activity promptly.
