Mangaluru: On Tuesday, July 2, the Dakshina Kannada National Students Union of India (NSUI), led by prominent Congress leaders, staged a protest at Clock Tower, Mangaluru, criticizing the Central BJP Government over the NEET question paper leak. The protest escalated into a scuffle with the police, resulting in physical confrontations as the authorities attempted to maintain order.
Addressing the gathering, Congress MP candidate Padmaraj R Poojary stated, “NSUI organized this protest to highlight the scam perpetrated by the BJP. It’s evident from one center where 7 students scored full marks that exams are rigged to disadvantage the poor. The BJP has failed to address this issue, even attempting to silence Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. This injustice towards students must end; Rahul Gandhi and the Congress stand firmly with students.”
District Congress president Harish Kumar added, “This incident is unfortunate, caused by the central government. Despite Rahul Gandhi’s efforts to raise concerns about NEET exams, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remained silent. The magnitude of this scam affects millions of students. Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Parliament compelled Modi to listen, despite BJP’s attempts to undermine him as ‘Pappu’. Through initiatives like the Yuva Nidhi Scheme, Rahul Gandhi continues to support countless students.”
M G Hegde also criticized the BJP, saying, “After exploiting the country, the BJP now targets students. Modi’s promises of making India a superpower have only led to inflation. BJP’s Hindutva has poisoned the youth, but voters in the recent elections have taught them a lesson.”
The protest saw the presence of leaders such as Ramanath Rai, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shalet Pinto, Suhan Alva, and Vishwas.
