Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City CEN (Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics) Crime Police have arrested a 29-year-old man from Uttara Kannada for allegedly duping people on the OLX app by pretending to sell cars.

The accused, Ravichandra Manjunath Revankar, hails from Banavasi and was taken into custody in Hosapete. He was later brought to Mangaluru for interrogation.

Police revealed that Ravichandra collected ₹2.5 lakh from a victim after falsely claiming to sell a car through the OLX platform. However, the car was never delivered.

Following the complaint, a case was filed on June 28 at the Mangaluru City CEN police station. The FIR was registered under sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), India’s new criminal code.

Authorities are investigating if others have fallen prey to similar scams orchestrated by the accused.
