Sullia: A tragic road accident occurred on the evening of June 25 at Kodankeri in Aranthodu village, located under the jurisdiction of Sullia Police Station. The mishap involved two KSRTC buses and resulted in the loss of one life and injuries to multiple passengers.

The incident took place when a KSRTC bus (KA 21 F 0069) traveling from Sullia to Madikeri collided with another KSRTC bus (KA 19 F 3620) coming from the opposite direction. Preliminary reports suggest that rash and negligent driving by the driver of the bus from Madikeri led to the accident.

Bharathi (50), a resident of Kushalnagar, Madikeri, died on the spot due to the impact. Two other passengers sustained severe injuries, while 17 more passengers suffered minor wounds. The injured have been shifted to various hospitals for medical treatment.

Police officials, including the Circle Inspector and Sub-Inspector of Sulya, quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and oversee rescue efforts. A case has been officially registered at Sulya Police Station, and further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.

The damaged vehicles have been removed from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow, authorities confirmed. Locals have once again raised concerns about the increasing number of accidents on the Sullia–Madikeri route, urging stricter enforcement of safety regulations.
