Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has strongly dismissed claims made by the BJP that the Congress-led government will collapse within the next three months. Speaking to the media, Rao said, “Our government is secure. If there’s a mosquito in our bowl, there’s a gnat in theirs. They should focus on their own house.”
He also mentioned that senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala would soon be meeting with all MLAs in Karnataka to gather their views and assess the situation. “There can be differing opinions in a large political party. We will meet, discuss, and resolve any internal matters ourselves,” he assured.
Addressing corruption allegations in house allotments, Rao said, “If there is proof of wrongdoing, let it be brought forward. BR Patil has spoken and even the Chief Minister has discussed it with him. Corruption exists in many parts of the country — we must work to eliminate it wherever it exists.”
On the issue of sand and red stone shortages in Dakshina Kannada, Rao clarified that illegal transportation will not be tolerated. However, he acknowledged the need to review current regulations. “We’ll bring this up in the upcoming KDP meeting and hold discussions with senior officials. We are open to easing certain rules, but only through legal and proper channels,” he said.
