Mangaluru: More than 50 passengers had a narrow escape after an express bus travelling from Karkala to Mangaluru lost control and overturned into a roadside drain on National Highway 66 near MCF in Panambur on Friday morning.

The incident occurred during the morning hours when the bus was travelling towards Mangaluru. The vehicle reportedly went out of control before overturning into a roadside drain.
More than 50 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the incident. Despite the seriousness of the mishap, most passengers escaped without injuries.
One passenger, identified as Aditya from Belman, sustained minor injuries in the accident. No other serious injuries were reported.
The circumstances that caused the driver to lose control of the bus were not immediately known.
Police and public help passengers escape
Following information about the accident, personnel from the Mangaluru North Traffic Police reached the spot.
With assistance from members of the public, police helped passengers who were inside the overturned vehicle to get out safely.
The incident could have resulted in serious consequences given the number of passengers travelling in the bus, but the quick response helped ensure that everyone could be evacuated without further harm.
No case registered so far
Traffic police officials said that no formal case had been registered in connection with the accident as of Friday.
