KPCC general secretary Padmaraj R has called upon leaders from all political backgrounds to prioritise the development of Dakshina Kannada and avoid divisive narratives that damage the district’s progress and image. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he stressed that violent incidents like murders and mob lynchings deter investors and tarnish the district’s reputation.

“Dakshina Kannada holds tremendous potential to attract business and investment. We must work collectively to realise that potential,” he said, condemning the recent murder of Suhas Shetty, alongside related stabbing and assault incidents, describing them as stains on the district’s integrity. He asserted that all perpetrators must face strict legal consequences, and no form of violence can ever be justified.

Padmaraj also criticised attempts to glorify individuals with criminal histories. Referring to Suhas Shetty, he questioned, “Who opened a rowdy sheet against him, and under which government? Those now labelling him a Hindu activist—what efforts did they make to reform him earlier?”

He highlighted that true Hinduism promotes peace and inclusivity, stating, “Hinduism teaches tolerance, respect, and social upliftment—not hatred.” He emphasised that anti-social elements must be viewed as threats, regardless of their religious or political affiliations.

Padmaraj also warned against the spread of misinformation on social media, urging youth to consider the repercussions their families face when legal actions follow. He concluded by appealing for social harmony, responsibility, and unity, essential for Dakshina Kannada’s peaceful and prosperous future.
