Mangaluru: BJP Mangaluru district president Satish Kumpala on December 29 said the recently concluded town panchayat elections were conducted successfully and reflected strong public support for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Bajpe–Kinnigoli Panchayat. He congratulated party workers for their efforts, stating that their hard work had played a key role in securing the party’s victory.

Addressing party members, Kumpala said the BJP had been able to understand the sentiments of the people at the grassroots level. He noted that voters across communities, including minority sections, had extended their support to the party. According to him, the election results were a clear message from the people on the kind of development carried out by the Congress government in the district.

Support across communities

Satish Kumpala said the outcome of the elections showed that people were more concerned about development and governance than political narratives. He claimed that even minority voters had supported the BJP, reflecting trust in the party’s leadership and policies.

“The people of the region have given a clear answer to the Congress government,” he said, adding that voters had evaluated the performance of the ruling party and expressed their dissatisfaction through the ballot.

Congress questioned despite being in power

The BJP leader pointed out that the Congress had been in power for several years and continues to govern the state. Despite this, he said, voters had once again chosen the BJP in the town panchayat elections.

Referring to certain untoward incidents that had occurred in the Bajpe area in the recent past, Kumpala questioned the manner in which the state government handled the situation. He said people had closely observed these developments and were unhappy with the government’s response, which he claimed had influenced their voting decision.

Allegations against state government

Satish Kumpala alleged that the present state government was primarily focused on retaining power rather than ensuring development. He criticised the government’s priorities, stating that instead of focusing on conducting a caste census, greater attention should have been given to addressing basic civic issues such as pothole-ridden roads.

He remarked that infrastructure and public safety issues continued to affect daily life, and accused the government of failing to address them effectively.

Gruha Lakshmi scheme criticism

The BJP district president also took aim at the Congress government over the implementation of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. He said the Congress had come to power promising welfare measures, but later claims by Minister Hebbalkar about the non-availability of ₹5,000 crore raised serious questions.

Kumpala alleged that the minister had provided false information during the Assembly session and accused the government of misleading the public on the implementation of its flagship schemes.

Appreciation for party workers

Concluding his remarks, Satish Kumpala once again congratulated BJP workers in the Bajpe–Kinnigoli area for their dedication during the elections. He said their commitment at the booth and ward levels had ensured the party’s success and strengthened its position in local governance.

Conclusion: Satish Kumpala said the town panchayat election results reflected public dissatisfaction with the Congress government and reaffirmed trust in the BJP’s leadership and approach to development. He added that the party would continue to work towards addressing local issues and meeting people’s expectations.
