The city police have intensified their efforts in the Boliyar stabbing incident, apprehending seven additional individuals on Wednesday. This brings the total number of arrests to 13 in connection with the altercation that occurred during a BJP victory procession celebrating Narendra Modi’s swearing-in as Prime Minister.
The newly arrested suspects have been identified as Tajjudin, Sarwan, Mubarak, Ashraf, Talhat, Imran, and Koli Irshad, all residents of Boliyar. Previously, police had detained Muhammad Shakir, Abdul Razzaq, Aboobacker Siddique, Sawad, Monu alias Hafeez, and Aboobacker in relation to the same incident.
The altercation reportedly began when provocative slogans were allegedly shouted near the Boliyar mosque during the procession. This led to a confrontation resulting in the stabbing of BJP activists Harish, Nandan Kumar, and Kishan Kumar from Dharmanagar. The injured were promptly hospitalized.
In response to a complaint filed by the mosque’s president, police have also registered a case against five BJP workers—Suresh, Vinay, Subhash, Ranjith, and Dhananjaya—for allegedly shouting provocative slogans in front of the mosque during the celebrations.
The investigation continues to unfold as authorities seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure justice is served.
