In the early hours of June 7, a private bus traveling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru  bus overturned near Barchinahalli on National Highway 75, under the jurisdiction of Uppinangady police. The mishap occurred after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which was carrying over 30 passengers.

As a result of the accident, more than 16 individuals sustained injuries. Among the injured were Fahad (20) from Moodbidri, Ramzeen (25) from Farangipete, Ummar (53) from Deralakatte, Tamim (19) and Isham (19) from Puttur, Rukmaya (24) from Uppinangady, Jahir (23) from Salethur in Bantwal, Shameer (28) and Ansar (26) from Vittal, Somashekhara (55) from Dasarapura in Bengaluru, Sharath (35), Dr. Mahant Gowda (47) from Nelamangala, Simack (23) from Sampya, and Abdul Razeed (38), Pauzil (23), and Altaf (28) from Kaikamba in Moodbidri. Several others reportedly sustained minor injuries.

Local residents immediately responded to the scene, providing assistance and helping transport the wounded to a private hospital in Nelyadi for initial medical care. Some of the more seriously injured were later referred to hospitals in Puttur and Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

Officers from the Nelyadi police outpost arrived at the accident site, conducted an inspection, and initiated an investigation into the cause of the incident.
