A packet containing processed human bones was unearthed in Chitranjali Nagar, Kumpala, on Saturday night, prompting locals to alert the police.
Upon receiving the report, the Ullal police swiftly reached the scene and launched an investigation into the source of the bones. The packet, resembling laboratory-prepared human remains, was found near a residential premises. As word spread, curious onlookers gathered at the site. The police seized the package for further examination.
Investigations revealed that a local woman, who works at the residence of a retired doctor in Mangaluru, had unknowingly brought the bones home while collecting household items after the doctor vacated his property. She later discarded the packet near her compound.
In an unrelated twist, a young performer, searching for his lost rental costume after a local event, stumbled upon the shocking discovery and alerted authorities.
The police are probing further to determine the exact origins and purpose of the bones.
