Puttur: Artist Ramprasad K from Puttur has won the national logo design competition organised by the Union Ministry of Rural Development, earning a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for his winning design promoting the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Grameen) – VBGRAM-G Act.

The award was presented on Monday during the National Rural Development Conference 2026 held at Pusa in New Delhi. Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the award in the presence of Karnataka Rural Development Minister Eshwar Khandre, rural development ministers from various states, and senior officials from the Union and state governments.

National recognition for Puttur artist

Ramprasad K emerged as the winner of the nationwide digital logo design competition conducted to create awareness about the provisions and objectives of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Grameen) – VBGRAM-G Act, 2025.

The competition was organised by the Union Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with My Bharat and MyGov as part of a broader public awareness campaign. Alongside the logo design contest, the ministry also conducted the ’60 Seconds for My Village’ Reel/Video Challenge and the Viksit Bharat–VBGRAM-G Quiz 2026 to encourage greater public participation.

His logo was selected for effectively representing the themes of employment, empowerment and holistic rural development, making it the winning entry among thousands of submissions.

Competition attracted over 7,000 entries

A total of 7,233 participants from across India took part in the national logo design competition.

Ramprasad, a graduate in Visual Arts, came to know about the competition only a few days before the original submission deadline. By the time he began working on his design, the deadline had already expired.

However, after the organisers extended the submission deadline by four days, he used the opportunity to redesign his concept and improve its visual impact before submitting the final version.

His revised design impressed the judges and was declared the winning entry.

Award presented in New Delhi

Ramprasad travelled to New Delhi at the government’s expense to attend the National Rural Development Conference 2026, where he received the award and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

The award was presented by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the presence of Karnataka Minister Eshwar Khandre, ministers from several states and senior government officials.

The recognition marks a significant achievement for the young artist and brings national acclaim to Puttur’s creative talent.

Inspiring achievement

Ramprasad’s success highlights how creativity and perseverance can lead to national recognition. Despite learning about the competition at the last moment, he made effective use of the extended deadline to refine his design, ultimately securing the top honour.

His achievement is expected to inspire aspiring designers and artists from Karnataka to participate in national-level competitions and showcase their talent on larger platforms.

Conclusion

Winning the national logo design competition against more than 7,200 participants is a remarkable accomplishment for Ramprasad K. His award-winning design, symbolising employment, empowerment and rural development, has earned him national recognition while bringing pride to Puttur and Karnataka.
