PUTTUR: In a touching gesture of gratitude, SRK Ladders, a Puttur-based agricultural equipment manufacturer, fulfilled a lifelong dream for its workers by gifting them a flight experience and a two-day tour of Bengaluru and Mysuru on May 1 and 2. The initiative was in recognition of the employees’ extraordinary efforts between January and March this year, during which they worked extended hours to meet record-breaking orders.

Proprietor Keshav Amai said the company has a tradition of celebrating May Day, but this year called for something bigger. “While we offer overtime and incentives, this time I wanted to do something more meaningful,” he said.

During a staff meeting, employees were offered options to celebrate, and a majority chose travel, with 48 revealing they had never even seen an airport. By early April, the plan was finalised. The group took a bus to Mangaluru International Airport, flew to Bengaluru’s Terminal 2, and toured the city in an AC bus. The itinerary included a cultural programme, a grand dinner, and an overnight stay, followed by a trip to Mysuru and Bylakuppe.

Despite rain shortening the cultural events, the team returned to Puttur late on May 2, with hearts full. “For many, it was a dream come true,” said Amai, who personally accompanied the workers.
