Puttur: Puttur Town police have registered a case against three named persons and others following an alleged physical altercation near the Puttur Press Club on Tuesday, September 1. The incident reportedly caused a disturbance in a public place and disrupted public peace.
Police receive information about disturbance
According to police, Inspector Johnson D’Souza received information around noon that a group had gathered in front of the Puttur Press Club and was allegedly creating a disturbance.
Acting on the information, the inspector, along with other police personnel, reached the spot to assess the situation. On arrival, the police reportedly found some members of the group involved in a physical altercation.
The alleged fight took place in a public area, prompting police intervention to prevent the situation from escalating further and to restore order at the location.
Warning allegedly ignored
Police said the inspector warned the individuals involved and instructed them to stop quarrelling. However, despite the warning, the group allegedly continued the altercation.
The police subsequently intervened and took note of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the alleged fight are now part of the investigation.
The incident has led to legal action under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to public disorder and disturbance.
Case registered against three named persons
Following the incident, Puttur Town police registered a case under Crime No. 104/2026 under Section 194(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The case has been registered against Praveen Acharya of Mundur, Rawoof of Kurnadka and Hakeem of Bolwar, along with others.
Police have initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the case. The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances that led to the alleged confrontation and determine the role of those involved.
Investigation underway
The police action follows the alleged continuation of the quarrel despite intervention at the scene. Authorities are examining the incident as a breach of public peace and are proceeding in accordance with the law.
