On Friday, July 26, a python was discovered inside a plastic waste bin at a government high school near the Vagga National Highway. The incident took place at a school situated close to the Karinja Kodyamale reserve forest. The python had reportedly entered one of the classrooms late Thursday night and, after feeding on rats, ended up trapped in the waste bin.
The headmaster, Adam Sheikh, was taken aback when he opened the classroom door on Friday morning and encountered the python. With assistance from fellow teachers, the python was carefully removed from the bin, placed in a bag, and subsequently released into the nearby forest.
This incident follows previous encounters with snakes at the school, including a cobra and another python found last year. On those occasions, the snakes retreated into a hole before a snake expert could arrive. Headmaster Sheikh attributed the snake problems to the school’s tin roof, which has contributed to a rat infestation, thus attracting snakes.
Parents, who are proud of the school’s consistent 100% pass rate, are now advocating for the construction of a well-equipped building to replace the current facility. They believe that such improvements would help address the pest issues and enhance the overall learning environment for students.
