The repair work on the railway track at the landslide site near Donihagal, located between Edakumeri and Kadagaravalli on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route, is nearing completion. A successful trial run of a goods train engine was conducted on Sunday.

Construction of a retaining wall at the landslide site was finished on Saturday. Track relaying work is almost done, and other final repairs are being expedited. Rocks are being piled from the base, and iron nets are utilized for wall construction. An additional phase of rock piling is currently in progress to ensure stability.

Goods trains were permitted to move on a trial basis on Sunday as the track repair work reached completion. A speed limit of 15 km/h is currently enforced at the repair site, although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the railway department. Railway officials are optimistic that passenger trains will be allowed to resume service within a day or two.

The rapid progress in repairs has been well-coordinated, and railway staff are working diligently to restore full service. This is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and reliability of the railway network in the region.
