Mangaluru City Police have registered a new case against Rama Sena founder Prasad Attavar under the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act. Authorities allege that Attavar orchestrated a black magic ritual through another individual in favor of RTI activists Snehamayi Krishna and Gangaraju.
Attavar, who was previously arrested on January 23 for an attack on a unisex salon near the KSRTC bus stand in Bejai, came under further scrutiny after a forensic analysis of his phone. City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal revealed that investigators found images and videos hinting at animal sacrifice and occult practices, allegedly conducted by Ananth Bhat. The exact location of the ritual is yet to be determined.
A suo motu case has been registered at Barke police station, and further inquiry is underway. Officials may seek Attavar’s custody for interrogation.
Sources indicate that WhatsApp exchanges between Attavar and Bhat involved discussions, videos, and photos related to black magic. Investigators suspect financial transactions were made in exchange for these rituals. Evidence also suggests that Attavar shared an image of a cash-filled bag and received photos and videos of RTI activists’ meetings. Disturbingly, images show names inscribed on chits and photographs of the activists placed on a deity’s neck, with blood reportedly poured as part of the ritual.
