Mangaluru: Two shocking cases of dangerous and unlawful bike riding have stirred anger among city residents, prompting demands for immediate intervention by traffic enforcement agencies.
The first incident took place on the evening of June 7, on the stretch from Yenepoya (Deralakatte) to KS Hegde. A motorbike with registration KA 19 HL 7316 was spotted carrying four individuals—a serious breach of traffic regulations. Alarmingly, none of the riders wore helmets, and their erratic riding raised fears among bystanders. Upon further inspection, it was discovered that the bike’s emission certificate had also lapsed, adding to the legal violations. Locals have urged authorities to take strong action against the rider to deter similar lawbreaking behavior.
The second incident came to light on June 12 after a video went viral on social media. Filmed from a car trailing behind, the clip shows a helmetless biker performing reckless stunts while transporting two pillion riders on the stretch between Pandit House and Thokkottu. The biker was seen dangerously swerving through traffic, putting multiple lives in jeopardy.
Both instances have caused widespread concern across the city. Citizens are pressing for rigorous enforcement of traffic laws, strict penalties for violators, and frequent vehicle checks to prevent such hazardous conduct on public roads. The community emphasizes that unchecked violations like these could lead to fatal consequences if not addressed promptly.
