The Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), functioning under the Mangaluru Diocese, conducted its annual elections for the 2025–26 term on Sunday, May 11, at the Bishop’s House Hall in Mangaluru. Santosh D’Souza from Bajpe was unanimously chosen as the new central president.
The session began with prayers and spiritual reflections led by the central spiritual director, Dr J B Saldanha, who also referenced the recent election of Pope Leo XIV. His words set a contemplative tone for the day’s proceedings.
The following office-bearers were also elected unopposed:
- First Vice President: Lawrence D’Souza, Surathkal
- Second Vice President: Leo Rodrigues, Madanthyar
- General Secretary: Vilma Monteiro, Derebail
- Assistant Secretary: Alwyn Rodrigues, Alangar (Moodbidri)
- Treasurer: Francis Monteiro, Mariashram, Talapady
- Assistant Treasurer: Laveena Gretta D’Souza, Ranipura
Former president Lancy D’Cunha acted as the election officer, with Jerry Peter Rodrigues overseeing as the election observer.
Following the election, all newly appointed leaders were honored and congratulated by Dr J B Saldanha, outgoing president Alwyn D’Souza of Panir, and several past central presidents including Walter D’Souza, Marito Siqueira, L J Fernandes, Gerald D’Costa, and others.
In addition, valaya presidents—Roshan Boniface Martis, Leo Siqueira, Stany Miranda, Albert Sunil Monis, Joan Lasrado, Ida Furtado, Dolphy D’Souza, and Gerald Mascarenhas—along with executive committee members, extended their warm wishes and pledged support to the new leadership.
